This report presents generic simulations to aid in the establishment of vehicle architectures for decarbonised trains in Sub Saharan Africa, utilising the latest version of the Single Train Simulator (STS) in order to test four typical train service types. It is found that while many services vary in their requirements, medium haul passenger and freight work may be best served by a mixed traffic locomotive.
